FAQ

Who is elligible to compete in the Future Alumni Cup classes?

For the Hunt Seat FAC, eligibility is limited to graduating seniors, with up to 16 riders permitted to enter and compete. For the Western FAC, participation is open to both graduating seniors and  undergraduate IHSA members, allowing up to 16 riders to compete. You can enter only on the Online Entry page.

Do I need to bring my trainer?

No, you are not required to bring a trainer or coach—you are absolutely welcome to show on your own. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in the Team Challenge, where you can be paired with two other alumni who can help guide you through the day and cheer you on.

Do I need to have competed at any specific IHSA level?

Riders are responsible for ensuring they are safely prepared to compete in the Cup classes. For the Hunt Seat Cup, you should be comfortable and confident navigating a 2’3” fences course. For the Western Cup, you should be able to competently ride a Horsemanship rail and pattern, as well as a Ranch Riding pattern.

Is there any testing for top placing riders?

In the Hunt Seat Cup Optional testing may occur.

  • Up to 4 riders may be called back.

  • Testing performed on the flat and may include USEF Tests 1–19.

In the Western cup, testing is rare but at the discretion of the judge.
